17 September 2004:
"Ye Olde Spanner" list is now closed and Coollist - although not closed - is not active anymore.
So it's time to move on and subscribe (if you haven't done so yet) to the new List (Spanner II) which is now fully operational with most Spanners now on the new list.
The ISM wants to express here appreciation to all Meccanomen who spent time and efforts in the past to set up and run the Spanner List.
The Meccano Fraternity is indebted to those internet pioneers and now to Anthony Burkitt who started a new Spanner List
If you want to join the (new) Spanner mailing List, send an empty message (no signatures or any remarks in the body of the message) to:
spanner-join@mail.austprem.org.au
You will receive a confirmation email - just reply to it, and you will be fully subscribed.
The Spanner Mailing List was established in 1996 in order to enable Meccano persons to communicate with each other by e-mail. A message to the Spanner Mailing List is sent to everyone on the list. Messages usually follow themes or threads. The List functions as a Virtual Meccano Society. There is no moderator, so anything can be said, but a charter has been drawn up, which those who belong to the list are asked to adhere to.
Spanner Charter (new Charter in preparation)
1) Discuss Meccano and modern Meccano/Erector only.
2) Do not discuss Gilbert Erector or other constructional systems except where those systems have an impact on Meccano (e. g. "you can use Marklin
part "xyz" to do this neat trick in Meccano" or "competition from Gilbert Erector resulted in Meccano Ltd. introducing part xxx" etc.)
3) Within the constraints of (1) and (2) any subject is acceptable, i.e. model building, history, part repair, reviews, questions, answers etc.
4) Bad language is a no-no because there may be children involved, plus I don't like bad language :-).
5) Listings of Sales, Wants and Swaps is OK if not commercial.
Members of Spanner are specifically requested to confine their remarks to Meccano topics only in the broadest sense, as even discussion of making pictures for Meccano or viruses on Spanner are acceptable.
Please remember when posting messages that Spanner members come from different cultures, political backgrounds and religions and these subjects or indeed any material such as bad language that might cause offense should not be posted.
